Here at Harmony Counseling and Center for Play Therapy we are committed to the wellness of every individual, and their families, who we interact with on a daily basis. We aim to provide everyone with a safe space to share their concerns, verbally or through play, in order to learn positive methods for coping with the changes in their lives. For children, many times these life changes result in behavioral issues and difficulty in expressing emotions. Through the use of Child-Centered Play Therapy, children will learn how to cope with changes, recognize emotions and communicate their emotions more effectively. During this process, clients can strengthen their understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and begin to experience peace.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor having earned a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2014. I have worked in the mental health counseling field in both community health and private practice. As a person-centered therapist I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship with the client is essential in the healing process. Although I work with all ages, I am primarily a Registered Play Therapist working with children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral issues, social issues, trauma, abuse, depression and anxiety. I view my clients as independent and resourceful individuals who take an active role in their own healing process. My role as therapist is to promote the necessary conditions for change to occur. I take the time to get to know the client, discussing the reasons for pursuing therapy, then develop a personalized plan to help the client reach their goals. I have advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trust Based Relational Intervention, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Sandtray Therapy Techniques, and Expressive Art Techniques.
